An All-American Community Celebration and Field of Honor ...

Over 3,000 American flags will be on display in Downtown Merriam and along Johnson Dr. and Nieman in Shawnee.

 Here are some comments we captured from our 2008 events:

Fantastic!

 

We like the flags on the walking trail and the flags lining the parking lot.

 

The flags on the bridges looked wonderful.

 

The volunteers worked hard and had fun doing it.

 

It was neat to see the band honor the veterans from the different branches.

 

Singing the National Anthem followed by the bag pipes and "dual taps" was very effective.

My girlfriend and I came here on July 3rd to take pictures. As we were leaving I noticed your yellow ribbon lying on the ground. As I picked it up to attach it back to the flag, I realized how thankful I am for our troops. My brother was in Iraq so I know what it’s like. Anyway I just wanted to tell you what a difference you have made in my day by opening up my eyes again.
