FIELDS FOR FREEDOM 2008 A licensed HEALING FIELD® event

An All-American Community Celebration and Field of Honor ...

Over 3,000 American flags will be on display in Downtown Merriam and along Johnson Dr. and Nieman in Shawnee.


 

All Special Events at the Merriam Marketplace, 5740 Merriam Drive

                 (west of I-35 on Johnson Dr., then north on Merriam Dr.)

 

June 12 through July 5th -- Display of art work by Merriam Park 4th & 5th graders

   Irene B French Merriam Community Center (across from the Merriam Marketplace)

 

Saturday, June 28, 9:30 a.m. -- Opening Ceremony

  featuring the Marine Corps League

 

Tuesday, July 1 thru Friday, July 4 -- Closing TAPS performance at 7:00 p.m.

  featuring instrumentalists from Bugles Across America

 

FREE concerts at 7:00 p.m.  Bring your own chairs!  (Stormy weather?  Canceled concert?  Call 913-322-5550 )

            Monday, June 30 --  51% Blues Band -- a red, white and blues jam

            Tuesday, July 1 --  Sunflower Brass Choir 

            **Wednesday, July 2 --  Dan Bliss and The Bluetonium Trio

                      **Due to the weather forecast, tonight's concert (provided by Merriam Parks & Rec) will be in

                         the Community Center gym -- across the street from the marketplace ... it's air conditioned!

           Thursday, July 3 -- Ned Scott's "Good Sam Club"

10 a.m. - 3 p.m.   Cyclone Joe's Grill (burgers, brats, and drinks)
